CHADS Coalition for Mental Health is a non-profit organization whose mission is to save young lives by advancing the awareness and prevention of depression and suicide.
Program Description
CHADS Family Support program is dedicated to ensuring adolescents and their families have the emotional support and key resources needed to navigate a challenging mental health system. Through counseling, support groups, and post-crisis intervention (Postvention), CHADS specializes in assisting youth who are struggling with problems such as depression, anxiety, bullying, self-injury, and thoughts of suicide. Our target population is young people ages 12-25 who struggle with depression, self-injury behaviors or emotional issues.
Job Description for Family Support Therapist
The Family Support (FS) Therapist is a full-time position, embedded in a Normandy School District school, working a teacher schedule during the school year and a CHADS schedule during the summer, or as directed by the Program Manager. The clinician will work at least 40 hours per week Monday - Friday between the hours of 7am - 4pm, with flexibility allowed when the therapist is required to work for school/evening activities.
Responsibilities
- Providing compassionate counseling for adolescents and appropriate resources for their families
- Assessment, treatment, and resource development to navigate the mental health and social service systems
- In-person and/or Tele-Behavioral therapeutic counseling services for children/adolescents with emotional/mental health challenges or who are experiencing suicidal crises
- Facilitate school support groups for adolescents with various mental health challenges
- Fulfill 22-28 impactful hours per week consisting of counseling, group counseling, case management, and school support services
- Accurately tracking, recording and reporting data for all family support contacts in a timely manner
- Providing support materials & resource development
- Assist with any program development projects as needed
- Participate in building RTI (Response to Intervention) process
- Assist in Signs of Suicide presentations, mentoring or school staff trainings as needed
- Some evening hours may be required
- Maintain regular contact with the agency as directed by the Program Manager
- Additional tasks as assigned by the Family Support Program Manager
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum LMSW or PLPC with experience working with populations age 12-25 and parents
- Energetic with the ability to engage with youth, parents, and school administration
- Excellent organization skills, time management, record keeping skills
- Knowledge and compassion regarding depression and suicide
- Compassionate client engagement skills
- Strong verbal and written communications skills
- Team-player attitude and ability to understand and effectively share the CHADS’ mission
- Desire to work in an environment of measurable accountability
- Must be comfortable using computer applications and proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and Teams
- This position requires access to reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications:
- LCSW or LPC preferred
- Experience with crisis intervention
- At least 2 years’ counseling experience
- Strength in cultural responsiveness and cultural competencies
- Ability to navigate school environment
- Bilingual/Spanish speaking abilities are a plus
The annual salary range for this 11-month embedded full-time position is $53,387-$62,920. Medical and other benefits are available 12 months/year.
