Social Emotional Learning Mentor/Coach (Full-Time, 9-Month, Exempt)
CHADS Coalition for Mental Health is a non-profit organization whose mission is to save young lives by advancing the awareness and prevention of depression and suicide.
Program Description:
CHADS believes the emotional well-being of youth is enhanced through building self-esteem, self-efficacy, decreasing bullying behaviors, decreasing risk taking behaviors and supporting the development of social and emotional skills. To support the social and emotional well-being of a child, CHADS utilizes an assortment of evidence and research informed programs including social and emotional mentoring.
Job Description for Social Emotional Learning Mentor/Coach:
The Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Mentor/Coach is a full-time position that runs August-May. The SEL Mentor/Coach will be embedded in the school during all school staff days or as directed by the Program Manager. The mentor will work 40 hours Monday-Friday within the hours of 7am-4pm, though some flexible scheduling will be utilized for times when the SEL Mentor/Coach is required by the school for after school/evening activities.
The Job Responsibilities for the Social Emotional Learning Mentor/Coach will include but are not limited to:
- Provide individual (in person or virtual) mentoring to students through CHADS Coalition’s Social Emotional Learning (SEL) curriculum.
- Adapt and modify lessons to meet individual learning styles and needs of students.
- Facilitate small to medium-sized group sessions (3-12 students) for various SEL topics based on the needs of the school.
- Analyze student data to identify needs and implement targeted social-emotional learning interventions.
- Establish and maintain communication with families of varying engagement levels, providing resources and support as needed.
- Collaborate with school staff including counselors, teachers, administrators, and office staff on student care plans and logistics.
- Facilitate professional development training to school staff on social emotional learning topics.
- Provide social-emotional coaching to school staff based upon teacher request and student observation.
- Maintain detailed organization of student progress and lesson plans.
- Administer, collect, and submit all SEW data and maintain all records as specified by program policy, funders, and agency requirements.
- Implement all CHADS programs with fidelity to meet or exceed quality standards and achieve program outputs and outcomes.
- Maintain regular contact with the agency as directed by the Program Manager.
- Any task assigned by the Program Manager that is appropriate for this role.
Qualifications:
- Preferred master's degree in mental health or related field.
- Minimum 1 – 3 years’ experience working with students and their families.
- Minimum 1 – 3 years’ experience and understanding in promoting social and emotional learning.
- Exhibits patience and resilience when supporting students through social-emotional growth.
- Knowledge and compassion regarding suicide prevention and social-emotional health.
- Demonstrates commitment to collaboration and the ability to effectively represent and advance CHADS' mission.
- Demonstrates effective interpersonal skills with the ability to meaningfully engage with youth, parents, and school personnel.
- Strong verbal and written communications skills.
- Strong adaptability and flexibility in changing environments.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and record-keeping skills with consistent ability to meet deadlines.
- Commitment to achieving measurable impact goals, including consistent attendance and billable expectations.
- Proficiency with various technology platforms including Microsoft and Google suites, video conferencing tools, and ability to learn school-specific software systems.
The salary range for this 9-month, full-time position is $35,880 – $41,000 per year. Medical Benefits are available 12 months/year.
